What are UVU students’ attitudes and awareness of environmental issues and their perceived individual impact on these issues? The purpose of this study is to identify what students believe is the most impactful thing they (or we) could do locally to benefit the environment. We will use the information gathered from this study to create potential solutions to improve the environment in Utah County. Additionally, we hope to draw awareness to environmental issues and the effects faced globally and locally. Our research includes both quantitative and qualitative measures. We will distribute a survey to UVU students with questions that are both open- and closed-ended. This method will allow us to quantify attitudes toward personal impact, while also discovering unique perspectives regarding the most pressing environmental matters and how students can take action to resolve these matters. Once this data has been collected, we will group the responses into relevant categories and analyze students’ input. We will identify patterns and use existing research to create an impactful solution based on students’ desires and inclinations.
