Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

 

Author Guidelines

    • Prospective authors are invited to submit abstracts via the symposium's submission portal by Jan. 9, 2015.

    • Abstracts are being accepted that address trends, challenges or developments related to the conference theme or to the NMC 2014 Horizon Report

    • Authors interested in presenting a full presentation (25 minutes) are invited to submit a 500-word limit abstract. Submissions will be peer-reviewed.

    • Authors who would like to facilitate or participate in a panel presentation (50 minutes) are invited to submit a 500-word limit statement of their proposed topic, suggested participants as well as a brief bio for those participants

    • Prospective authors of a 5-10 minute lightning round are invited to submit a 300-word limit abstract for a presentation

    • All prospective participants agree to adhere to the guidelines for authors, copyright, and submissions

    • Authors will be notified of acceptance by Jan. 26, 2015

    • Accepted papers and presentations may be published as part of an open access ejournal of the symposium proceedings at epubs.utah.edu/emerge/

    • Once accepted, the resulting papers and presentations must adhere to APA style guidelines

     

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

  1. The submission content is original and unique to the author.

  2. The submission has not been previously published, or presented, nor is it before another conference for consideration.

  3. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF.

  4. All URL addresses in the text (e.g., http://pkp.sfu.ca) are activated and ready to click.

  5. The paper/presentation text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

  6. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines

     

 

Copyright Notice

Authors who submit to this conference must agree to the following terms:


a) Authors retain copyright over their work, while allowing the conference to place this unpublished work under a Creative Commons Attribution License, which allows others to freely access, use, and share the work, with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and its initial presentation at this conference.


b) Authors are able to waive the terms of the CC license and enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution and subsequent publication of this work (e.g., publish a revised version in a journal, post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial presentation at this conference.


c) In addition, authors are encouraged to post and share their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) at any point before and after the conference.

 

d) The Author grants Marriott Library the nonexclusive, perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable right to reproduce, distribute, display, publish, archive, preserve, digitize, transcribe, translate, provide access and transmit their work (in whole or in part) for any non-commercial purpose including but not limited to archiving, academic research, and marketing in such tangible electronic formats as may be in existence now or hereafter developed.

 

e) Marriott Library may elect, in its sole discretion, not to exercise the rights granted herein.

 

f) Author shall retain copyright in and to the Work and Marriott Library shall provide proper attribution in its exercise of the rights granted herein.

 

g) Author is solely responsible and will indemnify and hold Marriott Library and/or the University of Utah harmless for any third party claims related to the Work as submitted for publication.
